FunGlass at ESB 2026 in Antwerp
Researchers from the Biomaterilas Dpt. participated in the ESB 2026 conference in Antwerp, Belgium, presenting their latest research through two oral presentations and a scientific poster.
The ESB meeting brings together a highly multidisciplinary scientific community, connecting researchers from fields such as chemistry, physics, biology, biomaterials science, tissue engineering, and medicine. With more than 1,000 participants from across Europe and beyond, the conference provides an important platform for exchanging knowledge and strengthening collaboration between basic researchers, applied scientists, clinicians, and industry. The meeting focuses on advancing innovative biomaterials and regenerative medicine solutions with potential for clinical applications.
For the FunGlass team, ESB 2026 provided an excellent opportunity to present recent results in bioactive glasses, glass-based biomaterials, and tissue engineering, and to exchange ideas with researchers from the international biomaterials community.
Oral presentations
- Dr. Fatih Kurtuldu (Si Chen) presented “Amorphous Borate Glass Composite Scaffolds with Incorporated Mesoporous Bioactive Glass Nanoparticles Fabricated by DLP”, carried out within the APVV-22-0036 project.
- Dr. Martin Michálek presented “Magnetic Mesoporous Bioactive Glass Nanoparticles Codoped with Cobalt and Boron for Angiogenic and Osteogenic Stimulation”, as part of the BiCeps project, funded by the European Innovation Council (EIC), Project No. 101186758.
Poster presentation
- Dr. Fatih Kurtuldu presented the poster “Biofabrication of a Co-culture System for Bone Tissue Engineering from Nanocomposite Bioinks Incorporating Ga-doped Mesoporous Bioactive Glass Nanoparticles”, supported by the VV-MVP-24-0409 project.
Participation at ESB 2026 highlights the ongoing international research activities of the FunGlass team and its contribution to the development of advanced glass-based materials for biomedical applications, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine.
