FunGlass Contributes to the Popularization of Science
FunGlass was pleased to contribute to the popularization of science. Our researcher, Dr. Martina Vitázková, participated in the Curious Debates event organized by the Centre for Scientific and Technical Information of the Slovak Republic. This initiative aims to bring the world of science and research closer to the public and to offer people across different regions of Slovakia the opportunity to engage in inspiring, moderated discussions on current scientific topics.

The discussion took place on April 14 at the Michal Rešetka Public Library in Trenčín. The event featured three scientists connected by their focus on biology, each approaching the field from a different perspective.
- Dr. Martina Gáliková, a geneticist and evolutionary biologist from the Institute of Zoology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, studies life through genes and metabolism. Her research uses fruit flies as a model organism to better understand how genetics influences obesity.
- Assoc. Prof. Michaela Havrlentová, an expert in agricultural plants from the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, focuses on the use of biotechnology to enhance the nutritional value of plants and to develop innovative functional foods.
- Our colleague Martina Vitázková from the Department of Biomaterials focuses on the preparation and testing of bioglass-based biomaterials for potential applications in biomedicine.
All three scientists shared not only their research achievements but also their perspectives on the role of women in science and academia, as well as the challenges of balancing family life with a scientific career.

We would like to thank the organizers for a very engaging and enjoyable event, and Martina for representing FunGlass so well.
