Avnee Chauhan Wins First Prize in the YCN Photo Contest
We are delighted to share that our colleague Avnee Chauhan has won First Prize in this year’s YCN Photo Contest! The winners were announced by the YCN Committee on 9 June during the 5th YCN Workshop in Otrębusy, Poland.
The competition featured 20 outstanding photographs submitted by participants from 13 countries, making this year’s contest highly competitive. The three winning images beautifully captured the fascinating world of ceramics:
🥇 1st Place: Frozen Layers: A Lake Within 2D Landscapes – Avnee Chauhan (Slovakia)
🥈 2nd Place: Zeolites Blossom – Mariana Almeida (Portugal)
🥉 3rd Place: Microscopic Disappointment – Vanessa Gastaldi (Italy)

At the FunGlass Centre, we are proud not only of Avnee’s scientific achievements but also of the creativity and originality she brings beyond the laboratory. Her award-winning photograph is a wonderful reminder that science and art are not separate worlds—they complement and inspire one another, revealing beauty even at the microscopic scale.
Congratulations, Avnee, on this well-deserved recognition! We wish you continued success in both your scientific career and your creative pursuits.
