FunGlass Welcomes Two New Researchers

We are delighted to announce the arrival of two researchers who have recently joined FunGlass, further strengthening our commitment to excellence in interdisciplinary research and innovation.

Dr. Khush Bakhat Awar – VILA Department

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Khush Bakhat Awar as a new researcher in the VILA department at FunGlass. She earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Air University, Pakistan, in 2024.

Dr. Awar’s research focuses on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Complex Network Analysis, and Software Engineering, with a strong emphasis on solving real-world problems through advanced computational approaches. She has authored more than ten research papers published in well-regarded international journals, including Expert Systems with Applications, Multimedia Tools and Applications, and Applied Intelligence.

Prior to joining FunGlass, Dr. Awar served as an Assistant Professor in Pakistan, where she combined academic work with practical software development. She has contributed to several applied projects, demonstrating a strong ability to bridge theory and practice. At FunGlass, she is part of the computational methods team and looks forward to contributing to impactful interdisciplinary research.

Dr. Hasmat Khan – Department of Coating Processes

We also warmly welcome Dr. Hasmat Khan, who joins the Department of Coating Processes. Dr. Khan obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemistry and completed his Ph.D. in Materials Science in 2020 from Jadavpur University, in collaboration with the CSIR–Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute in Kolkata, India.

His doctoral research focused on the development of surface-engineered metal oxide sol-gel thin films as efficient photoanodes for photoelectrochemical water splitting. Following his Ph.D., Dr. Khan joined Pusan National University (PNU), Busan, South Korea, as a Postdoctoral Researcher in March 2021. During his tenure there (2021–2025), he developed extensive expertise in designing and synthesizing nanostructured functional materials and thin films using advanced techniques such as wet chemical methods and atomic layer deposition.

Dr. Khan has also played a key role in securing an international collaborative research project under the India–Korea joint initiative. This project focuses on the generation of green hydrogen fuel using anion exchange membrane (AEM) water electrolyzers powered by renewable energy sources.

With a strong background in materials design, synthesis, characterization, and analysis, Dr. Khan has contributed to a wide range of application areas, including photo- and electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, gas sensing, and functional coatings. At FunGlass, his research is focused on developing multifunctional sol–gel coatings for optical applications and advancing surface and interface engineering of photocatalysts for efficient solar fuel generation.

The addition of Dr. Awar and Dr. Khan highlights FunGlass’s ongoing commitment to attracting top international talent and fostering a collaborative, multidisciplinary research environment. We are excited to see their contributions enhance our scientific endeavors and drive innovation in both computational and materials research domains.

We warmly welcome them to the FunGlass team and look forward to their future achievements.
