FunGlass Researchers and Students at Mojmírovce 2025 Ceramics Conference
From October 29–31, 2025, the historic Manor-House Mojmírovce hosted the joint annual meeting of the Slovak Silicate Scientific-Technological Society and the scientific seminar Processing and Properties of Advanced Ceramics and Glasses. This prestigious event brought together leading experts, early-career researchers, and students to explore cutting-edge developments in ceramics, glasses, and related materials.
A strong presence was felt from the Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalized Glass (FunGlass), with Prof. Dušan Galusek serving as one of the conference chairs and session moderators. FunGlass researchers and students contributed significantly to the scientific program, presenting innovative work in areas such as bioactive glass scaffolds, high-entropy ceramics, additive manufacturing, and photocatalytic membranes.
Notable contributions included presentations by Si Chen on DLP-based fabrication of borate bioactive glass scaffolds, Garima Thakur presentation on residue-free 3D printing of optical-grade glass, Mansi Dua on porous photocatalytic glass-ceramic membranes for wastewater treatment, and Martin Michálek on bioactive glass microspheres for bone repair. These talks showcased the interdisciplinary and application-driven nature of FunGlass research.
The conference also featured the 1st NexGenTE Workshop on Thermoelectrics, highlighting EU-funded initiatives and collaborative opportunities. FunGlass researchers actively participated in discussions on sustainable energy materials, further reinforcing their role in shaping future technologies.
Beyond the scientific sessions, the event fostered networking and collaboration through social evenings and roundtable discussions. The participation of FunGlass students and young researchers underscored the center’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of materials scientists.
