The Joint Annual Meeting of the Slovak Silicate Scientific–Technological Society and the Workshop on Processing and Properties of Advanced Ceramics and Glasses

On October 26-27, 2023, the Joint Annual Meeting of the Slovak Silicate Scientific–Technological Society and the Workshop on Processing and Properties of Advanced Ceramics and Glasses took place at the Congress Centre Academia in Stará Lesná. This joint meeting was organized by the Institute of Materials Research SAS, Košice, in collaboration with the Slovak Silicate Society. The event fostered a pleasant atmosphere, facilitating discussions on future collaborations and shared research outcomes with other leading groups in the field of glass and ceramic research.

The conference’s main topics included:

  • Development of advanced ceramics, ceramic composites, and glasses
  • Functional ceramics and glasses
  • Porous ceramics and bioceramics
  • Advanced ceramic coatings
  • Characterization and testing of ceramic materials
  • Surface modification techniques of ceramics

FunGlass was represented by several speakers, including Dr. Arish Dasan, Dr. Anna Prnová, Dr. Omid Sharifahmadian, Associate Prof. Jose Joaquin Velazquez Garcia, and our PhD student Mir Saeed Sajjadi. Additionally, Prof. Dušan Galusek, the director of the center, had the opportunity to introduce the center’s research lines and facilities.

The FunGlass contributions featured the following presentations:

Arish Dasan: Engineering Highly Porous Triply Periodic Minimal Surface-Based 3D-Printed Bioceramic Scaffolds: Investigating the Influence of Precursors and Printing Technology

Anna Prnová: Study of Thermal Behavior in the Al2O3-RE2O3 System Using DSC, HT RTG, and SEM

Omid Sharifahmadian: Hydrophobic Plasma Polymer Film Deposited on a Glass Substrate: Structural Evolution and Nanomechanical Properties

Jose Joaquin Velazquez Garcia: Enhanced Photocatalytic Activity of ZIF-8/CuWO4 Hybrid Structures

Mir Saeed Sajjadi: In2S3/Bi2WO6/Fe3O4 Magnetic Core-Shell Catalyst for Enhanced Sono-Photocatalytic Degradation of Tetracycline
