At the last General Assembly of the Federation of European Materials Societies (FEMS)  held remotely on 15th July 2020, Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini (Head, Institiute of Biomaterials, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany) was elected unanimously to serve a third period as member of the FEMS Executive Committee representing the German Materials Society  (DGM) for the period 2021-2022. Commenting on his election, Prof. Boccaccini said: “It is a great honour to be able to represent the German Materials Society (DGM) at the Executive Committee of FEMS for a third period and I thank the trust of the DGM board. DGM, as one of the largest Materials Science and Technology organizations in Europe, plays a key role in shaping all activities and developments initiated or supported by FEMS. Serving for a third period in the FEMS Executive Committee gives me the opportunity to continue contributing to materials science and engineering efforts at an organizational level, not only in Europe but also worldwide in agreement with the international vision of DGM. I have been continuously involved in DGM and FEMS activities since my time as PhD student, so I am very pleased to have this opportunity to serve both societies”.

Prof. Boccaccini is a member of the Scientific Board of the FunGlass Centre.
