PhD Students Grant 2023-2024
We are excited to launch the 2023-2024 Students Grant call for proposals, welcoming expressions of interest from PhD students for research grants to support research activities. In this call for proposals, there are opportunities for PhD students from Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalised Glass (FunGlass) and FunGlass partners to perform research activities that focus on issues or topics related to one of FunGlass’s ongoing research topics.
Additionally, this year, in support of our aim to expand multilateral and international collaborations, we welcome ideas for projects that are specifically intended to be carried out at our state-of-the-art laboratories within a short-time secondment arrangement, up to 3 months, between FunGlass and external organizations.
Research calls are open to graduate PhD students who have not received this award in the last call and are graduating no sooner than January 2025. The maximum award amount for research grants is 3000 €, covering expenses of experimental activities, including consumables, characterization, and, upon reasonable justification, production of the experimental setup.
Applicants will be expected to clearly explain the aim of their proposed study and how it would contribute to the current research topics at FunGlass. The applicants must include the following information in their expression of interest: (i) a description of the proposed project, including the objectives, design and methodology, and outputs according to the attached template, (ii) curriculum vitae, (iii) a recommendation letter from supervisor, and (iv) basic budget details.
Proposals and supporting documents shall be in English.
The application and supporting materials must be submitted in a single “pdf” file via email to: firstname.lastname@example.org
All proposals are reviewed and ranked on the basis of their scientific quality, originality, and feasibility by the Students Grant Committee. The five best-ranked proposals that are evaluated by the reviewers as “outstanding”, with a total score > 12/15, are funded.
All proposals are due by 1st March 2023. We will notify the awardees no later than 31st March 2023. All funds must be spent by 20th February 2024.
Formal questions about the grant or application process shall be sent to: email@example.com.
