Ellipsometry Training Course with Dr. Mª Yolanda Castro
We were delighted and proud to welcome Dr. Mª Yolanda Castro from the Institute of Ceramics and Glass (ICV), Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Spain, who led a two-day Ellipsometry Training Course on 27–28 October.
The course combined theoretical lectures with practical sessions, giving participants an opportunity to explore the fundamentals of ellipsometry, learn about measurement techniques and instrumentation, and gain hands-on experience with data modelling and analysis. The programme covered a wide range of topics, including thin-film optics, spectroscopic ellipsometry, advanced optical models, complex multilayer structures, and the validation and interpretation of results.
The training course concluded on 29 October with a lecture/webinar entitled “Ellipsometry: General Applications and Practical Use”, delivered by Dr. Castro. This provided a final opportunity to consolidate the knowledge gained during the theoretical and practical sessions and to explore the broader applications of ellipsometry in materials research.
Dr. Castro Martín is a researcher specialising in sol-gel processing, multifunctional coatings, and advanced materials, particularly for applications in anticorrosion protection and photocatalysis. She is also a long-standing research partner of FunGlass.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to Dr. Castro for sharing her expertise and experience, and to all participants for their active involvement and valuable time. We hope the course will prove useful in their future research!
