FunGlass Researchers Participate in 4th Teaming Club Conference in Portugal
FunGlass is proud to announce the participation of Prof. Dušan Galusek, Dr. Peter Hošták, and Dr. Dagmar Galusková at the 4th Teaming Club Conference, held from 15–17 October 2025 at the BIOPOLIS Campus in Vairão, Portugal. The conference, hosted by BIOPOLIS, brought together leading Teaming Centres of Excellence from across Europe to address the theme: “Delivering effective strategies for long-term sustainability.”
The event focused on the critical challenge of ensuring financial and functional sustainability of research centres beyond EU funding. Participants explored actionable solutions across five key areas: infrastructure management, talent retention, innovation and enterprise, fundraising through the Quadruple Helix, and alternative sustainability models.
Prof. Galusek, Director of FunGlass, contributed to discussions on internationalisation and innovation strategies, sharing insights from FunGlass’s experience in integrating advanced materials research with biotechnology for climate-resilient agriculture. Dr. Hošták and Dr. Galusková engaged in thematic panels and networking sessions, highlighting FunGlass’s interdisciplinary approach and its commitment to long-term impact through collaborative research and industrial partnerships.
The conference featured plenary sessions with high-level speakers, including representatives from the European Research Executive Agency (REA), and provided a platform for 4th generation Teaming Centres to introduce their initiatives. FunGlass’s participation reinforced its role as a key contributor to the European research landscape and its dedication to sustainable innovation.
In addition to the formal programme, the event offered networking opportunities, cultural tours, and collaborative planning for future Teaming activities. The FunGlass team’s presence underscored the centre’s strategic vision and its active engagement in shaping the future of excellence-driven research in Europe.
