Dr. Akansha Mehta Nominated for the ESET Science Award 2025

The ESET Science Award once again honors scientists who expand the boundaries of knowledge and enrich public dialogue with facts and verified information. This year’s theme, “Science as a Pillar of Trust”, highlights the essential role of research in strengthening confidence in society.

Laureates in three categories – Outstanding Personality of Science in Slovakia, Outstanding Personality of Science under 35, and Outstanding Personality of Higher Education – will be chosen by an expert committee, with the first two categories evaluated by an international jury.

We are proud to announce that Dr. Akansha Mehta from the Glass Processing Department has been nominated in the Outstanding Personality of Science under 35 category.
Her research focuses on transforming real industrial waste, including medical glass and bauxite sludge, into advanced 3D-printed photocatalytic membranes and conductive glass-ceramic electrodes with applications in the fields of environment, energy, and glass technologies.

In connection with her nomination, the ESET Award team recently visited FunGlass, where they filmed Akansha and captured her work and story for the official award presentation.

Beyond scientific contributions and measurable scientometric results, the evaluation also considers international collaborations and the visibility of Slovak science abroad.

The award ceremony will take place on October 9, 2025.
We warmly congratulate Dr. Akansha Mehta on her nomination and wish her every success in the final evaluation!
