Successful Dissertation Defense – Ahmed Gamal

We are proud to share the great news that Ahmed Gamal has successfully defended his dissertation on July 15 with an excellent performance and a truly inspiring discussion.

Ahmed’s dissertation, titled “Characterization, Functionalization and Improvement of Glasses for Pharma,” focused on the characterization, modification, and improvement of glass surfaces for pharmaceutical use, including the development of innovative coated or modified surfaces to meet the growing demands of new drugs.

His research was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Jozef Kraxner (FunGlass TnUAD, Slovakia) and Prof. Dr. Enrico Bernardo (University of Padua, Italy), with Dr. Fabio Nicoletti (Nuova Ompi, Stevanato Group, Italy) as co‑supervisor.
The work was reviewed by Prof. Marián Janek (FCHPT STU Bratislava) and Prof. Vincenzo Sglavo (University of Trento, Italy).

The defense attracted a large audience both on site and online, and the lively and fruitful discussion included many additional questions from the committee and attendees, all of which Ahmed addressed with confidence and depth.

We are also delighted to announce that Ahmed has been accepted as a fully funded PhD student at FunGlass TnUAD, in collaboration with the University of Padua, Italy, and Nuova Ompi (Stevanato Group), Italy. Through this program, he will earn a double doctoral degree from both Trencin and Padua.

Congratulations, Ahmed! We wish you continued success in your future research and academic journey.
