Three FunGlass projects passed through the VEGA committee as successful

This is with pleasure to announce that at the end of the last year three research projects funded by the Scientific Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic and the SAS (VEGA) were completed. These projects passed through the evaluation as successful, even two of them achieved excellent results based on the final evaluation report of the VEGA committee:

  • Prof. Marek Liška, DSc.: Corrosion and weathering of tableware glass (VEGA 1/0064/18): Successful completion of the project solution and achievement of excellent results

The results of the basic research hold within this project were marked as original with application potential e.g. in the optimization of industrially produced glasses. Publishing activities of the project team were assessed as exceptional.

“Extensive new information in the field of thermodynamic modeling of various types of glass and glass-forming melts can be added to the scientific contributions in the field of basic research. In addition, these properties have been investigated in both the volume and the surface layers of the glasses.”

  • Assoc. Prof. Robert Klement, PhD.: Long persistent phosphors based on stoichiometric aluminates and silicates for optical and biomedical applications (VEGA 1/0527/18):
    Successful completion of the project solution and achievement of excellent results

The results of the project significantly contributed to the basic scientific knowledge in the of luminescent materials research. The significance of the scientific results is documented by the above-average quantitative and especially qualitative publishing activity of the project. The acquired knowledge has a high application potential, it is possible to use it e.g. in the production of new types of phosphors.”

  • Faturíková Katarína, PhD.: The relationship between composition, structure and properties of inorganic-organic nanocomposite films for protection of materials (VEGA 1/0431/18)
    Successful completion of the project solution and achievement of excellent results

“The aims of the project were focused on the study of relationships between the composition, process parameters and properties of the precursor sols and the final inorganic-organic thin layers. Another goal was to evaluate the protective effect of the prepared thin layers against water, corrosion solution and biofilm adherence. The results obtained by the project contribute to the development of technologies for protective layers of materials.”
