Highlights from the FunGlass  Annual Scientific Board Meeting

On the 18th of April, the annual meeting of the Scientific Board of the FunGlass Centre took place under the chairmanship of its Director, Prof. Dušan Galusek. The meeting was attended by board members from advanced partner institutions: Prof. Alicia Durán (CSIC Madrid), Prof. Enrico Bernardo (University of  Padua), and Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini (FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg), along with the European Project Office managers and department heads of the FunGlass Centre.

The Board reviewed the progress of the FunGlass Centre as well as the status of the Horizon 2020 project “FunGlass,” which is nearing its completion (project duration March 2017 – December 2024). Discussions during the meeting encompassed topics such as staff growth and training, the PhD program, project activities, and collaboration opportunities.

Among the members of the Scientific Board is Dr. Soňa Ftáčniková, who serves as an ethics officer for the FunGlass project. During the meeting, Dr. Ftáčniková presented a report on ethical issues, focusing particularly on recruitment practices and gender balance.”

Scientific Board is the main decision-making and supervisory body of the Centre and as such has decision-making authority in fundamental questions regarding development of the Centre. The Centre is established in close cooperation with members of consortium of the FunGlass project: prominent European institutions in the field of glass science and technologies, namely: Università degli Studi di Padova, Italy (prof. E. Bernardo)), Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany (prof. A. R. Boccaccini), Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas, Spain (prof. A. Durán), Friedrich-Schiller Universität Jena, Germany (prof. L. Wondraczek). Members of the consortium are directly involved in management of the Centre, with the objective to contribute to achievement of excellent results in research and transformation of the national Centre to an internationally recognized and established scientific centre.
