Shubham Gupta

Shubham Gupta earned his B.Sc. in Physics honors from IGNOU in 2020 and M.Sc. in Physics from       NIT-K, Surathkal, India in 2022. His master’s project, supervised by Prof. H.D. Shashikala, focused on the optimization of processing parameters for Cerium Oxide-doped Barium Borate Glass using Taguchi Design of Experiment.

Subsequently, Shubham contributed to projects such as “Photoluminescence Behaviour Studies of Cerium, Erbium, and Europium-doped Barium Borate Glass for White LED Applications” and “Synthesis and Characterization of Oxide Glasses for Bioactive Application.” His professional journey also includes a role as a High School Physics teacher at Sri Chaitanya Techno School, Mangalore, Karnataka, India from 2022 to 2023.

Driven by his passion for glass research, Shubham joined the FunGlass Centre in 2023 as a Ph.D. student. His current research focuses on developing phosphors with near-zero-thermal-quenching properties for NUV-converted white LEDs. His work involves preparing these phosphors and conducting a detailed study of their structural and luminescent properties. The primary goal is to understand the mechanisms behind the zero-thermal-quenching process, addressing a critical challenge in using phosphor-converted white LEDs for high-power applications.
