Mahdi Babaei

I earned my MSc. degree in Materials Engineering from the University of Tehran, with a focus on electrochemical assessment, corrosion properties, and the development of coatings. My master’s thesis was titled ‘Electrochemical Characterization of Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation Coatings on Titanium.’ I had the privilege of being trained on electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements and corrosion assessment of coatings.

After graduation, I led an industrial project on the ‘Synthesis and development of Tb3+-doped Gd2O2S X-ray imaging luminescent phosphors’ as an R&D materials engineer in a medical equipment company for use in X-ray imaging instruments. This opportunity gave me insight into solid-state preparation method and ceramic sintering, XRD analysis, optical and Luminescence Spectroscopy. I also have 2.5 years of work experience as a metallurgical process engineer, contributing to technological consultations for the steelmaking industry, process development, and design calculations. Throughout all these years, I honed my skills in the simulation, research methodology and analyzing skills in FE-SEM, XRD, XPS, UV-Visible, EIS and synthesis. I believe pursuing a Ph.D. at Funglass would offer a unique experience and mark a significant step toward exploring new horizons.
