Daniela Jaramillo Raquejo

Daniela Jaramillo Raquejo is a physical engineer from EAFIT University in Colombia, where she also succeed in a master’s in Applied Physics. She was involved in the research activities and modeling of physical phenomena at the Applied Electromagnetism Group of the EAFIT University from an early stage of her education. During the last stage of her engineering and, as bachelor’s thesis, she developed the first protocol for quantifying amorphous and crystalline phases of ceramics by XRD for one of the biggest cement companies in Colombia, Cementos Argos S.A. As an engineer, she became a research assistant in charge of materials manufacturing and characterization projects at the EAFIT University, however, her strong interest in materials science pushed her to pursue a Master of Science.

During her master’s research, she manufactured tailored ceramic sputtering targets that are used as source material in the production of thin films by plasma-based techniques. Among the used techniques to obtain these targets, she employed the atmospheric plasma spray in the Laboratory of Science of Ceramic Processes and Surface Treatments at the Université de Limoges, France. She worked estimating the influence of coatings manufacturing parameters on the properties of the coating such as micro Vickers hardness and microstructural homogeneity by the processing of SEM images.
