Our doctoral students in Padua

Our two PhD students Abel Woldu Ourgessa and  Ahmed Gamal Abd-Elsatar arrived last week to Padua, Italy for their twelve months training stay aimed on developing their doctoral topic as well as the research and infrastructure competences under supervision of prof. Enrico Bernardo and his colleagues from Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of Padua. They have joined our researcher Dr. Diana Lago, who is also in Padua for an annual stay.

Abel and Ahmed are in third year of their doctoral studies at FunGlass. In August 2022, they passed minimal PhD exam, which is a condition for further progress in their studies and the possibility to travel to our partners. Abel is focused in his doctoral research on “Geopolymer-like materials from engineered mixtures of inorganic waste“ and Ahmed´s objective is to study „Characterization, functionalization and improvement of glasses for pharma.“ Both are supervised by Dr. Jozef Kraxner (Head of Dpt. of Glass processing).

We wish both good luck and pleasant stay in Padua.
