The Director of the Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalized Glass

of Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín

in accordance with Law 131/2002 on Higher Education, Law 552/2003 on Public Service Employment, and the university’s selection principles for university teachers, researchers, and senior officials, announces a recruitment process for the following position:

 Postdoctoral Research Associate
Department of Coating Processes, Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalized Glass

Research Topic: Sol-Gel Based Coatings

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • PhD (doctoral degree) in Material Science, Chemistry or related area
  • Specialization: Sol-gel films, anti-corrosive coatings, and glass-ceramic coating for optical applications.
  • Experience in sol-gel based system including synthesis of different kinds of materials and thin films processing such as spin coating or dip-coating.
  • Experience in analyzing techniques like XRD, GI-SAXS, SEM/EDX, FTIR, Raman, Thermogravimetric analysis.
  • Experience in Electroanalytical methods, Potentiostat/Galvanostat, Voltammetry, EIS
  • Strong experience in surface analysis (XPS, AFM, ellipsometry, contact angle….)
  • Good command of English (at least C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference).
  • Passion for hands-on problem-solving.

The position involves:

  • Fundamental and applied research in the area sol-gel chemistry and coating
  • Active searching for research funding for the research programs pursued in the center,
  • Research collaboration with industrial partners,
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment,
  • Publish research results and give presentations at scientific meetings,
  • Written and oral communication, preparation and management of research proposals, research papers and scientific reports, analysis and investigation of scientific problems.
  • Good planning and organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines

announces recruitment process for:

Postdoctoral Research Associate
Department of Glass Processing, Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalized Glass

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Ph.D. (or equivalent doctoral degree) in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Materials Engineering is required.
  • Relevant specialization areas include Chemistry, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, and Inorganic Non-Metallic Materials.
  • Proven experience in glass science with a focus on luminescence applications, including the synthesis, processing, development, and characterization of inorganic glass materials.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in preparing special glass systems using techniques such as melt-quenching, sol-gel processing, and sintering.
  • Advanced proficiency in characterization methods including optical dilatometry, TG/DTA, XRD, TEM, ellipsometry, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, and photoluminescence spectroscopy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct fundamental and applied research in glass processing, including preparation, development, and advanced material characterization, aligned with the project’s research directions.
  • Actively seek research funding to support and expand the centre’s research agenda.
  • Foster collaborations with industrial partners and academic institutions both nationally and internationally.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary research teams.
  • Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present at scientific conferences.
  • Contribute to preparing and managing research proposals, scientific publications, technical reports, and analysing complex scientific challenges.
