FunGlass School in Ráztočno

A few days ago, our regular scientific seminar FunGlass School ended. This time it was held in Ráztočno  on June 19-21. The event was attended by more than 70 participants – researchers, laboratory technicians, PhD students and the administration staff of the FunGlass center. During the opening of the FG School, Director Dušan Galusek summarized the development of the FG Center from its beginnings until now in his presentation entitled How we stand?, Peter Hošták and Monika Šandrejová presented two new  projects with FunGlass in coordinators role which succeeded in receiving funding from Horizon Europe.

As visiting professor, Dr. Jan Ilavsky, beam scientist from Argonne National Laboratory USA, gave his interesting lecture entitled Examples of data reduction & analysis of small-angle scattering data (1-N).

The main part of the presentations were delivered by departments – Functional Materials, VILA and Central laboratories, as well as PhD students in total amount 28 presentations. All lectures were followed by fruitful and motivating discussions.

As part of the complementary program, we all participate in an English quiz, where we tested our knowledge of completely different areas such as glass and ceramics. It was led by Rob Lee, who ensures the improvement of our English skills throughout the year. Despite the busy schedule, there was still time for various recreational activities that helped strengthen the relationships of our FunGlass family. It was not only very useful but also a pleasant time spent. The result will also be the Book of abstracts (coming soon).
